Barry's Sunday Service 04/04/21
Dearly Beloved,
Welcome to this week's Sunday Service...
Something to read and ponder about while dunking a biscuit (that's a "cookie" for my Mericun chums) into a cup of tea on a Sunday.
So, lets get into it...
TIP / OPINION / WHAT I DID
Do you really need to buy that shiny software product that the sales page has promised that you will only ever be half-happy unless you buy?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
It depends on how much use you have for it.
If it does something that you will only need very infrequently, there are other ways that you can achieve the exact same results without getting the software that will cost you less - in time as well as cash!
You see, there are people who buy software tools to use for others rather than for themselves. It would make a lot more sense to have them do it for you. And it is not always about the cash.
Here are a couple of examples...
Over the last few years many people have bought Viddyoze. If you don't know what this is, it is a software tool that creates those animated logo introductions you see on loads of videos these days.
Although I haven't really bothered with them myself, they are good for branding purposes.
If I was of a mind to have one on my videos, how often would I really need to use the tool?
Well, if I had one for each of my main video training courses, that would be 4 in the few years. Let's say I also made one just for my general videos too. So, I would have used it 5 times.
Rather than paying $97 or so to get access to the software, it would have been better for me to go to a guy like this and get one made for $5.
So I would have spent just $25 and - even better - I wouldn't have had to learn how to use the damn software and then I wouldn't have spent the time actually using it!
On the other side of the coin, I use Vidnami all the time. If I had to go and find a Fiverr gig every time I wanted a video made it would get pretty darn expensive pretty darn fast.
So, in this case the monthly fee is a real saving for me.
But I do outsource some of my videos to my son to do using my account. Just to save a bit of my time and give him some extra cash.
Similarly, I ordered some keyword research this week. I know there are tons of tools out there to do this, many of them free. But I found a guy (who is clearly using some whizz-bang software) who did it and delivered it (in a day) all organized and colour-coded in a spreadsheet and a pdf for $5.
But there isone good reason why you might consider buying something like Viddyoze...
Yup, you guessed it... To offer what the software does as a service yourself. People make a lot of money doing these things on Fiverr for others.
In fact, if you are starting out and still building your business, it can be a great way to get seed money to invest in the tools you do actually need and in traffic.
There. Good advice for a Sunday

I didn't get time to do the webinar I was talking about last week. I had a few people say they were interested so I may do it this week instead.
That's all for now.
